Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used to examine and treat conditions inside the uterus. It involves inserting a hysteroscope, a thin, lighted tube with a camera, through the cervix into the uterus. This allows the doctor to view the uterine cavity on a monitor and perform diagnostic or surgical interventions as needed. Hysteroscopy is often used to diagnose and treat issues such as abnormal bleeding, fibroids, polyps, and uterine adhesions, improving fertility outcomes and uterine health.
Fasting and anesthesia (local or general) as needed.
Insert hysteroscope through the cervix; expand the uterus with saline or gas.
View and treat abnormalities such as fibroids or polyps using small instruments.
Remove hysteroscope; brief monitoring before discharge.
